Career Summary
Professor Ge is visiting the School of Accountancy (Gardens Point Campus) during Semester 1, 2009 and is the Dean, Department of Teaching Management, at Jinling Institute of Technology, in Nanjing China. From 2003 to 2006 he was the Head of the School of Business, Jinling Institute of Technology.
The Jinling Institute of Technology is an important partner of QUT's, having articulation arrangements with both the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Science and Information Technology. The majority of students who come to QUT from Jinling do the undergraduate Accountancy program. Currently Jinling has about 150 accounting students in the JIT-QUT joint program. Many of these students will come into the Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) program over the coming years. The Accountancy department at Jinling has 26 full-time staff members, and 16 part-time teachers. It is the largest academic department in JIT. There are about 1400 accounting students in the department. Professor Ge's visit will assist in cementing this important relationship between our institutions.
John has taught accounting courses including basic accounting, financial accounting, cost accounting, and managerial accounting since 1987, and has a CPA qualification.

Prof Ge's research focuses on cost management and corporate finance in the areas of "The Analysis about early detection of Financial Distress of the Listed Companies" and "The Relationship between Stockholder's Rights in Listed Companies' and their Performance". He has written a number of textbooks on Accounting Principles.
