The CPIE Program provides an invaluable opportunity to students committed to gaining the edge in knowledge, experience and employability skills and to firms wanting to invest and gain an insight into new gradutes. After my CPIE work placement at BDO Kendalls, I will leave knowing that I have contributed to my team, learnt an incredible amount about tax compliance and accounting procedures as well as the responsibility and accountability of working in a professional practice with real clients and real situtations.

When selected as a recipient of the CPIE scholarship the key for me was escaping university debt. However, over the past 3 years it has been the work placements with the RNA Showgrounds and Coca-Cola Amatil that have been of greater value. These work placements have provided me with a head start over the competition. Not only does the CPIE scholarship encourage recipients to strive for more, but it provides the graduate a degree with significantly greater experience and the ability to slide right into the corporate environment.

Through the CPIE program I’ve been fortunate enough to gain excellent hands-on experience in the Marketing Departments of both Claypave and Coca-Cola Amatil. The internships have afforded me the opportunity to organise trade shows and conferences, create direct mail-outs and point-of-sale, and control entire promotions, including State of Origin. However, most importantly the CPIE program has give me ‘real world’ experience that will provide me with a substantial competitive advantage over other graduates across the nation.
